After much deliberation, I have started a new channel on YouTube: iKingOfHouse.
Whilst I like the idea of having a work-life channel to match the overall theme of my blog, I intend to grow my subscriber base as much as possible and I was concerned that 100(0/00/000) gaming subscribers would cause problems on a channel that is closely linked to my family and business interests. There is also the issue of relevant content – do gaming subscribers really want to see clips of my son playing on his swing set? Similarly, I can imagine my business contacts will get fed up of Call of Duty commentaries very quickly!
So, here’s the plan:
YouTube.com/SmarterGroup
I’ve been uploading random clips to this channel for almost 5 years, including product reviews, concerts and my son’s first steps. Unless anything significant happens, I will continue to upload such content to this channel.
Moving forward, I will upload (planned out, yet to be recorded) advice on starting a business, building a simple website and getting to grips with search engine optimisation.
In addition, I will use this channel to upload any content that will be used on my various affiliate websites which range from cheap car parts to gaming headsets. I suspect the outcome will be high views (via Google) and low subs, but I can live with this!
YouTube.com/iKingOfHouse
My Playstation username is king_of_house. YouTube doesn’t allow underscores and ‘kingofhouse’ was taken (although no longer active) so I went with the shortest alternative: iKingOfHouse.
This channel will be completely dedicated to gaming. I might do the occasional review but the majority of content will be on how to get better at various titles. I’ll start with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and, if I ever find time to play them again, I might branch out into Gran Turismo and the FIFA series.
To get things going, I’ve uploaded my ‘How to get a MOAB‘ commentary:
I hope to see you in my sub box in the near future 🙂
