Just a quick update and a few pics.
Unfortunately for some reason the paint on the block reacted when I put the final coat of matt black on so rather than return it with a wrinkly block it was out with the Nitromors and time to strip the block:
Fresh primer:
And fresh paint:
Then after cleaning out all the oil galleries etc. it was time to prepare everything for the build:
Quick shot of the fresh hone on the bores:
Then it was time to start the build – fitted the oil squirter jets:
And then went to start laying the crank – however – first bearing out the pack failed inspection and halted progress:
So, as soon as the replacement bearings arrive and subject to them being ok – the build is ready to continue…
Brill write up, fantastic even, so glad that this has been looked at before I venture down this road,
Hi Jonathan,
Glad you like it – I’ve merely borrowed the content from Will Pedley a means of showing the importance of Search Engine Optimisation – although it is my car!
If you’re looking to do something like this I would say without hesitation to give him a shout http://www.willpedleyracing.co.uk 🙂
From your e-mail (which isn’t shown to the masses) can I assume you have a Fiesta? I can only imagine how quick a smaller car would be with this engine :0)
