The Smarter Card

The benefits of the SmarterCard are so tangible the average student could recoup the initial outlay in a single evening.  The following scenario shows how this can be possible, taking me as an example.

So its the start of a student night; time to line the stomach with the usual 12 inch Reggae Reggae SubWay, toasted with spicy cheese, topped with a touch of lettuce, green peppers, onions, jalapenos and a line of the chilli sauce. Food dispatched, it’s onto Jug & Jester for a cheeky pint before moving onto Kelseys Bar. Some free pool, possibly an (infamous) Eliminator later and its all too easy to sneak in a couple of Southern Comfort and Lemonades before moving again. With a queue jump secured, its time for a quick cocktail in The Avenue while we discuss the perks of not standing in “that” queue. The bar fills up a little so we grab another drink, knowing the queue jumps are valid until 11p.m.

So what would the SmarterCard have saved me?

– 20% off at SUBWAY ~ circa £1.20
– 20% off at Jug & Jester ~ circa £1
– staff price drinks at Kelseys Bar ~ circa £6
– half price cocktails at The Avenue ~ circa  £5
– queue jump & free entry at Evolve Nightclub (Tuesdays) ~ circa £4

I’ve saved £15 right away and this could be much more had I been buying rounds or out on a big night!

It’s not just a ‘night out thing’ either. Benefits of the SmarterCard range from driving lessons to furniture suppliers, covering food, drink and other consumables inbetween. Further updates will be posted to SmarterNights very soon.
