The Parrot AR.Drone [.com] & Smarter SEO

Following on from this post on Builders in Hagley & Smarter SEO, I have now formed Smarter SEO Limited, trading out of the Technology Centre on the Wolverhampton Science Park.

As mentioned previously, the website URL for Smarter SEO will remain a secret until I can post up case studies documenting our approach for no fewer than ten different websites.  Finding ten companies that were interested in some free SEO advice was no more difficult than posting a new topic on the Courvoisier Future 500 forums, however it is taking much longer for the information provided to filter into their respective websites.

Rather than delay the launch of Smarter SEO, I have decided to whip together a couple of affiliate websites and the first of these is The-Parrot-ARDrone.com.

If you are unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, it is a way of earning revenue by promoting goods or services.

The concept is fairly simple: generate content which attacts searches relating to a particular product or service. In this case, I am targetting individuals who are looking to repair or upgrade their Parrot AR.Drone.

Once an individual lands on the page, they are presented with information which (hopefully) answers their question and provides a link to the relevant product.

Comissions are paid when said visitor follows a link and subsequently makes a purchase. Thus far I am reliant on Amazon and eBay for the AR.Drone spares & upgrades, alongside iTunes links for iOS apps.

When optimising a website, it is important to ensure your content is fresh. To help me to keep up to date with the latest AR.Drone news, I follow the Official Parrot AR.Drone twitter account. On Wednesday last week I spotted the tweet pictured above and thought it may have been useful content for the site. I was quite surprised to find it was actually this page on advanced AR.Drone flight maneuvers – something I had created earlier on in the day.

The tweet from Parrot HQ was hugely satisfying as it shows I can get a site ranking very quickly indeed and will make a nice feature on the yet to be launched Smarter SEO website!
