Update – 11th October, 2011: Vodafone scraps free iPhone 4S deal
When Apple release an updated version of the iPhone, it usually leads to a flurry of activity as the major network carriers try to shift the previous model. As of this morning it became possible to pre-order the iPhone 4S, so I figured my inbox would be full of offers for the outgoing ’4′.
Instead, there was an e-mail from Vodafone offering the iPhone 4S free on a 24 month contract. The handset is available in white or black, however the offer is only valid for the 16GB model.
The Vodafone deal is actually as follows:
- Pre-order your iPhone 4S before 14th October and get £59 credit in November;
- 3 months data “test drive” (unlimited data for first 3 months); and
- buyback (sell your old handset to Vodafone, up to the value of £270).
So, it isn’t a completely free iPhone. If you sign up to a 24 month contract @ £41 per month, you pay £59 for the iPhone 4S and this will be refunded to you as a credit on your November bill.
You can view the full range of iPhones at the Vodafone store.
