Modern Warfare 3: private game modes

This post was uploaded before COD: MW3 was released. For up to date information, including hints & tips on how to dominate the leader boards, subscribe to YouTube.com/iKingOfHouse

Credit to YouTube reviewer WoodysGamerTag for the following video, in which he discusses the private game modes in Modern Warfare 3.

This information has been compiled from a series of tweets from Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling, as well as a press pack handed out to delegates of COD: XP.

If you don’t have time to watch the videos, the game types available in private matches are:

Gun Game

First introduced to Call of Duty: Black Ops, everyone starts Gun Game with the same pistol. Each kill earned moves the player on to the next weapon, eventually ending up with the ballistic knives. Once a player earns a ballistic knife kill the game ends. It is unclear whether or not you will be able to customise the weapons available.

One in the chamber

Another game mode which was first seen in COD: Black Ops, in which players can only use the pistol. Each player starts with a single bullet and earns another bullet for killing an opponent. If you miss, you need to earn a knife-kill to gain another bullet.

Infection

The first of four game types which are new to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Infection starts off with a single ‘infected’ player, who must kill members of the opposing team. This is very much along the lines of 28 Days Later, in that the number of infected increases until there is one man standing – presumably the winner of the game.

Drop Zone

Very similar to domination, except there is only one point of interest. In Drop Zone, one team has to hold a specified area to accumulate points. Random care packages will be dropped at (presumably) user defined time intervals. The game ends when the opposing team captures the drop zone.

Team Juggernaut

For those unfamiliar with the Call of Duty series, a Juggernaut is simply a man (or woman?) wearing some kind of exoskeleton modified for high bullet and blast damage. The idea of Team Juggernaut is to reach a kill total. It seems likely that this will require good use of strategy to put the Juggernaut to full effect.

Juggernaut

Infinity Ward have said nothing more than “kill the Juggernaut to become the new Juggernaut” which sounds like an interesting spin on free-for-all.

MW3: Sharing custom game types

It is also worth noting that Activision have said users can create their own game types in COD: MW3 and share them both privately and publicly.
