Small Business Sunday (#sbs)
Last November I was fortunate enough to win ‘Small Business Sunday’, a weekly competition organised by Theo Paphitis – former Chairman of Millwall Football Club and current ‘Dragon’. To enter, simply Tweet details of your business between 5 & 7.30 pm (….. on a Sunday …..), making sure to include #sbs somewhere in your message.
Recently, I began work on a new project and entered #sbs again. I didn’t win and rightly so: to try take the opportunity away from fresh entrants was greedy [note to self: more thought before Tweeting, please]. The remedy is simple – give something back to #sbs.
Some free SEO for future #sbs winners
Last week, I reached out to the 6 winners and offered an hour of my time, in which I would review their website from a search engine optimisation / conversion perspective and provide some food for thought.
I have spoken with the owners of Buoys and Girls (website / Twitter), Piglets Boutique (website / Twitter) and Dottie Designs (website / Twitter), providing some thoughts on three areas which are key to SEO/CRO: on-site content, on-site structure and off-site link management. Where possible (i.e. without the need for any coding work), I have provided some tips on how to make improvements.
While I can’t really give detailed information on each case, I can point you in the direction of an old post in which I give some general SEO advice. I don’t have anything relating to CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation) on my blog at the moment, but a post is in the works 🙂
Ok, I’m interested – how do I get my free SEO?
From last weeks winners, I spoke to 4 of 6 individuals. In addition to the above, one winner politely declined and I didn’t hear back from the other two. As such, the first requirement is that you respond to my tweet and let me know how to get in touch.
Secondly, I need you to understand this is completely free and no obligation advice. I also need to add some kind of disclaimer that I am in no way responsible for a loss in web traffic, even though there is no logical reason for this to happen (I’m all about White Hat SEO).
Finally, I can only commit to this on a weekly basis if winners have responded within 72 hours of being retweeted by Theo Paphitis. In return, I’ll do my very best to have your review done within the following 48 hours. So that I can provide my full attention to #sbs winners, I need to ensure reviews are completed within 7 days of them being announced.
What about previous winners (the #sbs club)?
Purely for reasons of time, I regret I can’t offer this out to all of the previous #sbs winners. In the event there is interest, I’d be more than happy to put on a slash-price conference. Feel free to get in touch via the comments or on Twitter (@SmarterCEO) should this apply.
On that note, I’m about to attempt some kind of third party comments system. Fingers crossed you’ll be able to log in using Twitter within the next hour or so….
