In my opinion & based on limited FPS experience….
It is fair to say I am really impressed with Modern Warfare 3: in my opinion it is the best Call of Duty game that I have played and, as I type, I am struggling to name any FPS that I find more enjoyable.
I’m concerned this opening statement may annoy several people, so allow me to clarify: my FPS experience is limited to Duke Nukem 3D (PC, 1996-1999), MW2 (PS3, 2009-2011), Black Ops (PS3, a couple of hours on launch night) and the Battlefield 3 Beta. Counterstrike or COD4 may be better games, however I have no experience of either. While Battlefield is a great game, it is far too much of a simulator for my liking.
Special Ops Mission 1: Stay Sharp (World Record)
Similar to MW2, Modern Warfare 3 comes with a range of missions than can be played solo or with a friend. The first Special Ops mission is called Stay Sharp, in which players complete an obstacle course against the clock.
As with all of the Spec Ops missions, you either fail or achieve 1-3 stars for your performance. Obtaining three stars on Stay Sharp involves completing the course in under 28 seconds, which is relatively easy. I have done the course on my PS3 and on a friend’s XBOX and soon realised I was in the top 10,000 (of 5,000,000) on both consoles. I thought my time of 22s was pretty decent, until I saw this:
It didn’t take me long to work out that a good Stay Sharp time requires the following:
– use the USP with tactical knife to start;
– switch to the P99 once you see the ‘dogs’ appear;
– jumping whenever you run out of sprint;
– don’t miss the targets (duh); and
– don’t waste bullets shooting the hostages!
Now that I’ve seen the video I can see my strategy is spot on, I just need the reactions of a 12 year old in order to pull off a quicker time. Sadly I have too much going on at the moment to give this another try but you can be sure I’ll give it a go over Christmas.
UPDATE: here is my attempt!
