Almost a year ago to the day, I posted this testimonial for Will Pedley Racing to my YouTube channel. It would seem the video ticked the right boxes as Google contacted me last month and invited me to start placing Google Ads on future uploads. In other words, there is a possibility to make some money from YouTube.

I know of several people who actually make a living from YouTube, although this is because they are ‘partners’ – the next step up from my current status. While I don’t think a career making videos awaits me, it would be foolish to turn down an extra revenue opportunity.

During the next couple of weeks, I am going to cobble together a few short videos using iMovie (view on iTunes UK / iTunes US) and see how they get on. The first of these is already online and shows the first time my son (aged 2 at the time) saw my Parrot AR.Drone:

If the numbers stack up correctly then I’ll start uploading regular content to my channel. Should it pan out that way, it is likely that I will talk about the last 5/6 years in which it is fair to say there has been plenty going on.

Don’t expect to see me standing in front of the camera – I have some interesting ideas for a video backdrop 🙂
