AR Drone – Flight record – available in the App Store

In this post I mentioned I had downloaded a new application for the AR.Drone, called Flight Record.  Weather permitting I intend to test out this application tomorrow and then upload a review on this page. If you can’t wait that long, you can download Flight Record on iTunes.

Update: 10/10/10

I am delighted to say the world did not end as predicted by some and I was able to have a quick play with the AR.Drone and AR.FlightRecord. As you can see from the video below the application does exactly what it says – recording in flight footage from the drone’s two mounted cameras.

My first use was in very windy conditions so there’s nothing exciting about the video… it’s a flight around my garden at approximately 6 inches off the floor the whole time. When I have more time / better weather I’ll give the application a more thorough test.

    have been unable to get both cameras to toggle. only get front-facing image. Any ideas??

    Hi Danny,

    If you tap the 2nd button down on the left hand side the cameras should rotate between front, bottom and a combination of both (iirc, front facing taking up 75% of the screen and the bottom camera occupying the rest of the space).

    How do you get the video off the iphone 4? Iphoto and iMovie won’t import the files…

      Hi Gareth,

      From within Flight Record, access your media library and save the footage you wish to keep to your Camera Roll.

      You can then import the footage into iMovie or save it to a computer.

      Personally, I tend to save to my Camera Roll and then sync to a computer before I try and do any editing in iMovie. For some reason iMovie tends to freak out when I try and import media from my Camera Roll (as in, pictures that haven’t yet been synced) as opposed to one of the synced folders on my device. It does work except it takes forever to import.
